Watch out Aardman Animations, Chestnut Class will soon be taking over as the foremost studio for animations in the south west! As you may have guessed, Chestnut Class have been learning all about animation in their computing unit this term. Starting by learning to use the animation software to make flip books, they soon progressed to 3D models. It is very difficult to make the images blend together seamlessly; the children have had to really think about the position of the camera, lining up the shots and only moving the model an infinitesimally small amount. It can take hundreds of photos to make a film that is only a few seconds long: patience is a virtue, as Chestnut Class are finding out! Now that they have mastered the skills needed, they will be able to think about their own film - characters and plot- and begin to create their masterpieces. And who knows, we may have some budding filmmakers in our midst! Keep your eyes peeled for new animations coming out of Chestnut Class in the coming weeks.
