Business is 'blooming'
Wow! We can hardly believe another school year is nearly over. It has flown by so quickly: it only seems like yesterday that we were welcoming the new Reception children into school and now they are getting ready to be Year 1s! It doesn’t even seem that long ago that we were welcoming the Year 6 children into the school as fresh-faced Reception children themselves but now, we are (with heavy hearts) preparing to say goodbye to them, as they head off to their new adventures at secondary school. They are a wonderful, helpful and kind group of children and will be sorely missed but we are so looking forward to see them flourish and bloom in new challenges.
These past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy for our Year 6s: with a trip to the Junior Good Citizen, archery have-a-go and preparing for the highlight of the year so far- Young Apprentice! The children were given a £5 investment each- with the option to team up to maximise initial spending- and designed their own business stall; some chose to make and sell cakes, some sold jewellery, some designed games to be played, some did face painting and tattoos and some chose to have wet sponges thrown at them for profit! It was a brilliant event- full of fun and laughter- and all stalls made a profit. An incredible total profit of over £280 was made and the children have chosen for this to be donated to Make A Wish Foundation.
And the Year 6s aren’t done yet. They are busy preparing the Leavers’ Service- sharing their memories and talents with us all- it’s sure to be a tear-jerker! It’ll also be where we find out the which team made the biggest percentage profit at Young Apprentice and will be awarded the winners!
I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing the Year 6s all the best for their futures- don’t be strangers! And we wish you all, all the best for your summers- whatever you are up to. We look forward to seeing you back in September.
