Creating the Future
It may have been test week for our Year 6s this week but that doesn’t mean that it’s been all hard work for them- in fact quite the opposite! As well as working incredibly hard on their tests, mornings have been spent playing cricket, rounders and football.
Our Year 6s have also been busy on a rather special project: their own wearable technology business. In groups, they created their own company and designed their own piece of futuristic, wearable technology that would help someone in their everyday life. Ideas ranged from: glasses that helped you with your learning- by showing a good model next to your own work, to shoes that counted your steps and challenged you to be more active, to jewellery that gives you a shock if you start daydreaming and also keeps track of your headteacher awards and merits, to name just a few.
As well as coming up with the idea, they also had to make a prototype out of junk modelling material, direct and film an advert and create the app interface that controls it- all ready for a Dragon’s Den style pitch.
The creations are truly extraordinary and it is hard to believe that some of the adverts were made by ten and eleven year olds- they are much better than the ones that you see on TV! So Dragons, if you’re reading, come down to Box Primary School, as Sycamore Class have innovative ideas that could make you a lot of money! Or, if you’re not a Dragon, still come to Sycamore Class, as they would love to show you their creations!
